I hope everyone enjoyed their break. We are getting ready to begin December next week. December is always packed with lots of learning, assessments, and crafts. The boys and girls start to get really excited about the holidays. Next week we will begin our Holiday Unit that goes until Christmas Break. We incorporate reading, writing, and math skills into our holiday themes of trees, Santa, ornaments, reindeer, and many others. Our AIMS testing will be next week. I have pre-assessed the students and I am very happy with their growth. If you have not been practicing you might want to pull out the packet and review (especially on the phonemic segmentation- you say a word: cat and the student breaks it into the sounds c-a-t. We will be testing in reading and math next week. Next Wednesday is Ms. Martin’s last day. She has been a great asset to our class and we will miss her. She has done a great job. If your child would like to make her a card, please return by Monday. I am putting them all together for her to remember her time here. Put their initials in all coat labels. SEND WINTER COATS. Help is needed in the Computer Lab: If you have any old gift cards (such as i-Tunes and Wal-Mart) that are all used up/depleted with NO money on them please consider donating them to the computer lab. Please send a water bottle for your child to keep at school. This must be a bottle that is spill proof. Please put his or her name on the bottle. These bottles will be refilled at the sink. Students will bring or throw away bottles. Behavior: I have a great class this year. They are learning the rules so well. Some still struggle with some of the rules so I am reminding them and if they continue I am moving their clip to time out. The sooner they learn acceptable behavior the sooner we can do some great learning activities. Your child may occasionally forget so it’s not a repeated problem. All my students are progressing and are not bad behavior problems, just could be better with some rules. I want the best learning environment for ALL my students. We can have more fun when everyone listens and follows directions. I love my class! Thanks for your support at home.
